
Job Description
Amazon Legal Department is looking for a smart and talented business lawyer to support our rapidly growing and evolving marketplace, fulfillment services and cross-border businesses.
Some domestic and international travel is required.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will advise on innovative business and compliance initiatives, provide day-to-day corporate and business law counseling, conduct legal review and structuring of business/compliance programs and products, advise on procedural, compliance matters, and resolve issues that arise in existing commercial relationships and pre-litigation legal disputes. You will also be involved in structuring, drafting and negotiating day to day as well as complex high value contracts. You will work in close coordination with global business, compliance and legal teams and external counsel. You will lead global initiatives in liaison with tax, litigation, finance, public relations and public policy teams.
- Juris Doctor and membership in one state bar or equivalent
- 10+ years of legal experience
- Strong transactional and project management experience
- Proven expertise in cross-border transactions and regulatory compliance
- The ability to be proactive and demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
- In-house experience at an international corporation or a retail or e-commerce company
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to act as a business partner to senior management and clients of all levels
- Outstanding legal and business judgment, drafting, negotiation, analytical, management and leadership skills
- The ability to function as part of a global legal team and autonomously when required

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $164,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $272,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
