Job Description

Job Title: Senior Litigation Paralegal
Location: Portland Oregon (In-Office)
Reports To: Partner
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Litigation Paralegal to support a Partner with a general practice litigation caseload. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in managing a broad range of civil litigation matters—from commercial disputes to family law, personal injury, and administrative hearings. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a thorough understanding of Oregon state U.S. federal court rules and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, subpoenas, and other legal documents across multiple practice areas
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of case development, including calendaring deadlines, tracking court dates, and organizing case files
  • Conduct legal and factual research; prepare case summaries, chronologies, and research memos
  • File documents with Oregon courts using electronic filing systems (ODYSSEY, federal PACER/CM-ECF, etc.)
  • Summarize deposition transcripts, medical records, and discovery responses
  • Assist with document production, including organizing, reviewing, and Bates labeling materials for opposing counsel
  • Prepare for and support at hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and trials, including exhibit management and trial binders
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, experts, court staff, and opposing counsel
  • Track billable time in accordance with firm and client requirements
Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with exposure to general civil practice
  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent degree required (Bachelor’s or higher preferred)
  • Proficiency in Oregon and federal civil procedure and court rules
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and document management software
  • Excellent drafting, editing, and proofreading skills
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and client service orientation
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines with minimal supervision
Preferred Experience:
  • Familiarity with family law, criminal law, probate, and/or business litigation
  • Experience with practice management systems (e.g., CenterBase, SharePoint, Best Case, etc)
  • Oregon Notary Public certification a plus
