Job Description

Bitterroot Bio, Inc. is a Series A biotech company focusing on cardio-immunology, investigating the interplay between the immune system and cardiovascular health. By understanding the intricate mechanisms by which these cells contribute to disease, we are developing innovative immunotherapies that target the root causes of cardiovascular disease rather than just treating its symptoms.

For us to be successful we are single-minded on hiring talented people who are eager to engage, are naturally curious, who want to be part of providing a new hope to those suffering from cardiovascular diseases. We are looking at transforming the way these diseases are treated. You have an opportunity to put your hand on and shape a company as it moves into phase 2, and its next round of funding.

About you:

We are looking for someone to join our Legal team as Associate Director, Legal reporting to the Chief Legal Officer. At a high level, your role and responsibilities are to help tackle some of the exciting challenges of operating in a fast- paced biotech start-up and innovator in the cardio-immunology space.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with multiple stakeholders, such as our research, clinical, finance, and people organization teams. Be a true cross-functional
  • Draft, review and negotiate various biotech agreements, such as NDA’s, vendor agreements, clinical contracts, enterprise contracts, and research agreements.
  • Support and lead contract management processes, including implementation of a contracts management process.
  • Identify business and legal risks and issues, and suggest practical alternatives that allow the business of the company to move forward in compliance with domestic and international laws, rules, and regulations.

As our ideal candidate you have:

  • Juris Doctorate and a minimum of 6+ years of professional experience, including a mixture of in-house life sciences and law firm experience.
  • Strong critical thinking and strategic skills demonstrating sound judgment.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, but also comfortable with taking ownership of projects and driving them to conclusion.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work on a broad range of legal matters.
  • Experience working with a clinical stage biotech start-up.
  • Experience implementing a contracts management software system.
  • Corporate experience (governance, stock administration, etc.) is useful, but not required.

Beyond our Science

We live our principles: Visionaries and unsinkable; Hungry for impact and having a heart; Embracing risk and excellence; Demanding the bitter truth.

We understand the power of collaboration, curiosity and pushing boundaries. We welcome challenging thoughts and imagination to develop innovative solutions, in this we have a single-minded determination to achieve together. We want to change the paradigm on how cardiovascular is addressed and treated.

We are an in-office/lab company, pretty much 5-days a week. We believe you can’t dial in company building and culture.  People learn by example, and modeling, by reading body language, by communicating on-the-fly not just over Zoom or in meetings; we understand each other when we know each other.
