Overview
Reporting directly to the Sanctions Compliance General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel will be a trusted partner and key advisor for our Sanctions Compliance program’s compliance with sanctions regulations of the United States (Office of Foreign Assets Control (“OFAC”) and other agencies) and maintaining an effective sanctions compliance program throughout the Company. They will implement integrated compliance systems and digital tools to support and guide the businesses on how to best grow our product portfolios internationally. This role will also be a partner to Honeywell’s Export, Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”), and CFIUS teams
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify, evaluate, and manage sanctions and AML risks in a way that enables the organization to deliver sustainable business growth;
- Provide advice and direction relating to higher risk transactions from a sanctions or AML perspective, including, as appropriate, advising on and shepherding the preparation and submission of higher risk licenses necessary for the operation of the business and maintenance of an effective compliance program;
- Develop, implement, and enhance trade controls (including screening), including policies and procedures, to support risk management and compliant business (and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements;
- Stay updated on trade laws, regulations, designations, and other related regulatory announcements, assess and calibrate program response, and communicate business impacts;
- Exercise strong leadership, collaboration, and execution skills with project teams, outside vendors (including outside counsel) and consultants;
- Assist in testing and audits of the sanctions and AML compliance program and in periodic risk assessments to identify improvement opportunities and potential solutions;
- Assist in developing and providing trainings on sanctions and AML compliance issues for all internal stakeholders; and
- Support investigations into sanctions and AML compliance matters.
Qualifications
Must have:
- Juris Doctor (JD)
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in a law department, preferably in a multi-national company, law firm or government agency
- Significant experience in trade regulations, including sanctions laws
- Knowledge of Compliance IT and digital systems (including ERP software systems, SAP, GTS, Salesforce, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Absolute adherence to principles of integrity, compliance and ethics

The annual base salary range for this position is 233,000 - 292,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
