
About the role:
BlueWave is seeking a full-time Legal Intern for the Summer of 2026 with the option to continue to work part-time during the school year. The successful candidate will be an important member of the Legal team, which includes 3 attorneys, a real estate specialist, and paralegal. As BlueWave’s Legal Intern, you will work closely with all members of the Legal Team to assist with a broad range of general corporate matters and renewable energy development activities for a portfolio of commercial photovoltaic solar and battery energy storage projects. We seek a highly motivated and creative team member both to support BlueWave’s immediate business needs and to help guide us in becoming a best-in-class organization. The successful candidate will be driven to support numerous internal clients, with a focus on resolving obstacles to solar and storage development.
Responsibilities:
- Manage entity formation and qualification for BlueWave entities including special purpose project vehicles.
- Design and implement process improvements, including project entity management and contract management and approval procedures.
- Provide support on commercial transactions and financial and real estate closings; including reviewing and drafting NDAs and preparing ancillary documents and deliverables for financings.
- Support corporate governance efforts, including drafting operating agreements and consents, and assisting with corporate policies and procedures.
- Support real estate matters, including leases, lease options, easements, and title issues
- Answer research questions and draft memorandums to support internal counsel; communicate and coordinate with outside counsel on several matters.
- Track assignments and communicate progress to teams (including Development, Operations/Execution, and Capital Markets), with a focus toward quickly resolving any issues and obstacles
- Ongoing job-related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Current 1L at an ABA accredited law school.
- Passion for renewable energy as a means to combat climate change.
- Demonstrated interest through undergraduate coursework in renewable energy, real estate or environmental science, and intention to enroll in coursework related to environmental or energy law.
- Excellent commercial judgment and organizational skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a willingness to roll up one’s sleeves in order to dive into the documents and facts.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet competing deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Highly organized, flexible and efficient with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines on a routine basis.
- Bases his/her decision-making process on ethics, integrity, and transparent communication.
- Creates associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders – both internal and external.
