Class Summary




Job Description
Gwinnett County Superior Court Division 5 is seeking a Court Reporter to transcribe verbatim Court testimony and hearings.

Essential Duties
  • Attending hearings or Court sessions and reporting verbatim testimony (via recording devices and/or shorthand) of non/jury (pleas, motions, rules, etc.), and civil/criminal proceedings 
  • Preparing verbatim transcripts of hearings and trials as provided by law and providing transcribed testimonies, etc. to Judges, DAs, and attorneys and other interested parties
  • Maintaining year-to-date records of said proceedings
  • Processing billing notices for reporting/transcriptions
  • Preparing weekly reports and maintaining records
  • Performing other clerical tasks necessary for completion of Court functions, as assigned
Public Speaking Duties
  • At the direction of the judge
Grade
The grade for this position is 101. Salary will be dependent on education, experience, and certification level.

Hiring Salary Range:  

  • Certified Court Reporter - $77,157
  • Certified Court Reporter with Georgia Realtime License - $79,817
  • Certified Court Reporter with National Realtime License - $90,460

 
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Court Reporter Certification AND
  • One year of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment
    • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
  • Valid GA Driver's license
  • Georgia or National certified Court Reporting license.

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
  • Three years of experience performing stenographical duties, taking and transcribing verbatim information in a legal environment
