State Fund's Subrogation Unit has an opening for Senior Legal Analysts/Legal Analyst. Under the general direction of a licensed attorney, the Subrogation Senior Legal Analyst independently performs a broad range of litigation support and case management tasks for the Subrogation Legal Attorney. The Subrogation Senior Legal Analyst is the most experienced paralegal, providing high level assistance to attorneys, regularly and independently performing the full range of the most responsible, varied and complex analytical paralegal duties, and communicating with management and other internal and external stakeholders.
The Subrogation Senior Legal Analyst will work under the supervision of the Assistant Chief Counsel and will need to establish and maintain effective working relationships with State Fund’s attorneys, managers, employees, representatives, experts, and policyholders (as assignments require), and other business partners and stakeholders.

• Independently gathers and analyzes documents and information for case development, including but not limited
to communicating with and obtaining information from employers, witnesses, OSHA, law enforcement, and
internal and external investigators and other sources, including insurance carriers and outside counsel.
• Obtains information from internal and external sites (EAMS, CARE, TeamConnect, Court and regulatory agency
websites) to assist with case management and strategy
• Assists with locating and retaining expert witnesses and coordinates communication and information exchange.
• Under the general direction of attorney, prepares correspondence, pleadings and all court mandated documents.
• Updates and maintains electronic and physical documentation of case communications and activities
• Ensures accurate and prompt filing of all received correspondence and pleadings
• Prepares responses to discovery requests; requiring analyzing and reviewing responsive documents for
privilege, producing non-privileged documents, preparing privilege logs and redacting PII as required by law.
• Drafts Requests for Admission, Requests for Production of Documents, Deposition questions and other civil
litigation discovery vehicles.
• Reviews and summarizes requests, responses, discovery and motions from opposing parties, and prepares draft
responses under direction of attorney
• Drafts jury instructions and in limine motions under direction of attorney
• Assembles/prepares exhibits, as directed
• Drafts civil and WCAB settlement agreements, as directed
• Issues and tracks subpoenas and other discovery-related documents
• Conducts legal research and writing under the general direction of an attorney
• Assists in the preparation and filing of pleadings and other legal documents

Special Requirements- The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
• Communicates with court staff and administrative body personnel as needed for matter management
• Under direction of an attorney, independently conducts walk-through appearances and negotiations in Civil
Court and at the Workers Comp Appeals Board.
