Job Description

The Department of Justice leads the nation in ensuring the protection of all Americans while preserving their constitutional freedoms. The Summer Law Intern Program (SLIP) is the Department of Justice's competitive recruitment program for compensated summer internships. As a Summer Law Intern, you'll be a member of a team where you can develop your legal skills and contribute your talents to our important mission.

TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Open to full- or part-time law students who have completed at least one full semester of legal study by the application deadline and graduating law students who are entering a full-time judicial clerkship, graduate law program, or qualifying legal fellowship. Education EDUCATION: Full- or part-time law students who have completed at least one full semester of legal study by the application deadline. Other Information Suitability: Entrance on duty is contingent upon completion of a suitability review and adjudication that includes a fingerprint check, credit check, drug test and a review of the summer candidates' pre-employment forms. Some components require a National Agency Check with Inquiries through the Office of Personnel Management. Citizenship: U.S. citizens and qualifying non-U.S. citizens who meet immigration and appropriations law criteria may apply. See: https://help.usajobs.gov/working-in-government/non-citizens. The appointment of non-U.S. citizens is subject to strict security requirements and is extremely rare. Applicants who hold dual citizenship in the U.S. and another country will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Some positions are open only to U.S. citizens. Locations: 16 positions will be located in Washington, DC. The Executive Office for Immigration Review, Office of the Chief Immigration Judge will hire for 11 Immigration Courts in locations nationwide.
