BRC's work environment is collegial and challenging with a team that includes not only paralegals but also physicians, engineers, nurses and other professionals. This position is computer-based work and the training and work is done remotely and includes the management of multiple cases.

BRC’s corporate hours support a work schedule of Mon. - Fri., 8:00 am to 5:00 pm CT; however, flex time is available. Position Summary:

The Paralegal is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the file materials on each assigned file, preparing file materials for scheduled events for each Expert, creating a summary of the pertinent file materials in accordance with standard practice, and identifying missing file information and coordinating its acquisition from the client.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs daily work assignments in a high quality manner including, but not limited to, review of file materials and preparation of the Preliminary File Summary; maintaining file integrity on a file by file basis.
  • Completes daily work assignments in a timely manner with respect to deadlines and event dates. This area includes, review and assessment of file for missing materials; preparation of file for deposition/trial.
  • Completes daily work assignments productively and within budgeted time allotted.
  • Communicates with others involved on assigned files and works as a team so that complete and responsive client service is provided, including: coordination with others to request materials; acquiring duces tecum notices; coordination with other divisions and departments.
  • Maintains routine contact with clients to ensure necessary information is received in an appropriate time frame.
  • Uses the Matter Management System to manage personal case load with respect to task status and deadlines, event status and dates, priorities, et cetera, and to communicate file-related information to the rest of the organization.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associates Degree, Baccalaureate Degree ;or ;American Bar Association approved certification in paralegal studies required.
  • A minimum of three years of paralegal experience in product liability, medical malpractice or personal injury environments or equivalent experience required.
  • Must be able to read 60 deposition pages in one hour.
  • Must be able to summarize and synthesize information without changing the underlying facts or inferences.
