2721 N Central Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85004 United States of AmericaU-Haul International, Inc. seeks a full-time Regulatory and Risk Paralegal with at least 2 years of relevant experience to join its Legal Department.
Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will provide in-house paralegal support to the Director of Regulatory & Risk including, but not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
Manage legislative and regulatory tracking software in United States and Canada, including monitoring and evaluating proposed bills and regulations for impact on company operations.
Communicating with subject matter experts and business units regarding legislative and regulatory developments/impacts in the United States and Canada.
Assist with evolving federal, state, provincial, and local legislation/regulation by:
Conducting comprehensive legal research;
Interpreting impact on business operations;
Preparing detailed reports and summaries of potential impacts on company policies, procedures, and risk management strategies.
Assist with identifying risks and implementing proactive risk mitigation measures.
Support the drafting of company policies and customer-facing contract documents.
Support with providing legal advice to U-Haul field personnel on general legal issues.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will:
Have 2 or more years of relevant experience in a law firm, public, or corporate environment and be familiar with legislative and regulatory matters and activities.
Be responsive, responsible, practical, proactive, organized, and detail oriented.
Have outstanding verbal and written communication skills; a strong work ethic; sound judgment; and good time management habits.
Work well both independently and as part of a team.
Enjoy a fast-paced and challenging environment.
Triage and manage simultaneous time-sensitive matters.
Be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Prior experience with Bloomberg Law, Westlaw, GovHawk, and Legal Tracker are preferred, but not required.
Education:
Associate Degree (or higher) or certificate in paralegal or legal studies or the equivalent in experience.
