The City and County of Denver supports a hybrid workplace model. Employees work where needed, at a job site several days a week and off-site as needed. In this position you can expect to work on site at the Denver International Airport at least three days per week. Employees must work within the state of Colorado on their off-site days.
What You’ll DoThe City Attorney’s Office serves as the chief legal counsel to the Mayor, City Council, City Auditor, City Clerk and Recorder, and all City agencies. Its responsibilities include handling city lawsuits, prosecuting ordinance violations, providing victim support in criminal cases, representing the city in investigations and litigation, advising on contractual and transactional matters, offering regulatory and compliance assistance, addressing employment matters for the city's more than 12,000 workers, and providing guidance on local, state, and federal law.

The City Attorney's Office has an exciting opportunity available for a Legal Secretary at Denver International Airport (DEN). This position performs legal secretarial work providing information to courts, personnel, attorneys, and the public, and prepares and manages legal files. As a Legal Secretary, you can expect to:
Review attorney case files for accuracy and completeness, and interprets, translates, and types court proceedings. Updates case records showing current status, time, court date, location, continuations or new motions and notifies the attorney and/or witnesses of changes
Review correspondence and documents and decides whether to forward the information to the attorney or enter it into the case file
Obtain information for cases from legal sources and from the public record, as directed by attorneys
Using Microsoft Word, type forms and format legal documents including contracts and amendments
Assist with preparation and filing of Ordinances and Resolutions with City Council
Confirm and relay information such as hearing or trial dates, case status and dispositions
Use a variety of commercial and proprietary software programs to complete various work assignments
Complete other duties, as assigned or requested

What You’ll BringWe are looking for a very detail oriented legal secretary to join our legal team at DEN. The ideal candidate must be very dependable and think critically. In addition, the candidate will have the following:
Experience in a legal office
Experience in drafting contracts and other routine transactional documents and prepares exhibits and other attachments
Proficiency working with Outlook, Word, and Excel
Ability to thrive in an environment that is fast-paced and ever-changing

Additional Information
FBI Background Check: FBI criminal background check is required for all positions at Denver International Airport (DEN). Employees are also required to report any felony convictions and/or moving violations to maintain this clearance and be eligible for continued employment. By position, a pre-employment physical/drug test may be required.
Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of general clerical experience including One (1) year of legal clerical experience preparing legal documents such as: amendments, summonses, discovery orders, citations, motions and pleadings.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
License/Certifications: None
