Job Description

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is currently seeking a talented Trusts & Estates paralegal to join the Firm’s North or South Carolina office. The position requires an understanding of and experience in the field of estate planning and/or estate administration as well as experience drafting estate planning documents and probate forms, including accountings, required by the probate court preferred. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with attorneys, fiduciaries, financial institutions, accountants, and clients in the administration of estates and trusts, while providing exceptional client service to families navigating significant life events.
 
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
  • Assist attorneys with all aspects of estate and trust administration
  • Prepare probate pleadings, notices, inventories, accountings, receipts, and other court filings
  • Communicate with personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, financial advisors, CPAs, and financial institutions
  • Collect, organize, and analyze asset information
  • Coordinate transfers of estate and trust assets
  • Assist with fiduciary income tax return preparation and information gathering
  • Proficiency with tax software systems
  • Experience with preparation fiduciary income tax returns
  • Experience with preparation of federal estate tax returns
  • Maintain estate and trust administration calendars and monitor deadlines
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, and client communications
  • Manage and organize electronic and physical client files
  • Support attorneys in delivering a high level of client service and responsiveness
  • Proficient use of any and all technology

 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 5+ years of estate administration, probate, or trust administration experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of probate court procedures and estate and trust administration processes
  • Works well in a demanding, high-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal practice management software
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with attorneys and staff
