Role Overview:
This is an in-house Corporate Counsel position. The primary responsibilities will be to provide a wide range of legal & compliance support and administration to Samsung Lennox HVAC. Effectively manage relationships with colleagues and builds trust resulting in early involvement in business matters to reduce the risk of unnecessary litigation. Candidate must be trustworthy and be able to keep all data/communication confidential.
Key Role Focuses:
- Perform a wide variety of legal tasks as General Counsel of Samsung Lennox HVAC in areas including but not limited to contracts, litigation, labor & employment, construction, real estate, economic development, and compliance.
- Effectively manage relationships with colleagues by building trusting relationships resulting in early involvement in business matters and an enhanced understanding of legal’s contributions
- Performing daily administrative tasks such as auditing, tracking, and submitting expenses and other reports; managing outside counsel utilization and billing; and effectively and timely managing of internal legal & compliance systems & programs in connection with compliance, contracts, litigation, etc.
- Preparing, sending and tracking correspondence in connection with a wide variety of legal matters.
- Collaborating cross-functionally throughout Samsung and Lennox organizations in North America and the globe on a wide variety of matters including but not limited to legal & compliance, public relations, government relations.
Qualification Requirements:
- Must have a J.D. from ABA accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas
- Thorough knowledge of legal principles and practices
- Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques
- Thorough knowledge of legal contract boilerplate and able to revise contracts, with fallback positions
- Thorough knowledge of legal communication principles and practices
- Advanced computer software experience including MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, PowerPoint
- Previous experience in areas such as supply and services agreements, litigation, labor & employment matters, construction contracts, leases, and general compliance
- Serve as a role model and perform all tasks with ethics and honesty, humility, and a positive attitude
- Occasionally work additional hours beyond normal schedule
- Must possess a valid driver's license in good standing
- Must be able to occasionally travel nationally overnight
