General Counsel for an Innovative Electric Vehicle Charging Company

Their cloud platform allows charging station owners to price-set, manage port access, collect energy use data, and more. They’re seeking a General Counsel to handle a wide variety of legal matters and serve as an advisor to their executive team as the business grows. This person will oversee governance, non-disclosure agreements, contracts, compliance, and other legal responsibilities for the company.
There is flexibility to work from home occasionally for this role, but the GC will need to be in the LA office most days.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead corporate legal strategy to promote and protect the company’s matters
- Draft and execute non-disclosure agreements, licensing contracts, and other legal documents
- Set governance policies and procedures
- Negotiate and manage client contracts and insurance matters; researching potential legal issues and revising as needed
- Draft, edit, and disseminate documents and messaging related to employment issues and contracts (working with outside counsel as-needed)
- Work with executive team to manage risk
- Ensure intellectual property is protected through proper filing, documentation, and enforcement
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with customers in the technology field
- Oversee all legal work currently managed by outside counsel
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree, required; plus advanced legal degree (JD, LLM, etc.)
- 8-12 years of post-law school experience (ideally a mix of firm and in-house)
- Experience with tech integration deals, a big plus
- Extensive experience with contracts, IP, employment law, and other general legal matters
- Some technology or business development experience will be helpful
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance quickly-shifting priorities
- Prior experience working with startups/high-growth companies, a plus
Compensation: Targeting a base salary of ~$275k + bonus
