Job Description

The Office of the Inspector General is one of the best places to work in the Department of Justice and is one of the premier inspector general offices in federal government. The OIG's IT Division offers advanced and entry-level opportunities to Software Application Developers, Cloud and Network Engineers, Security Specialists, Project Managers and Customer Support Technicians. This posting is to fill a position on our Cloud and Network engineering team.

Duties

As a IT Cybersecurity Specialist (Systems Admin) at the GS-2210- 13/14 you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Administering and managing the agency's Cloud Service Environment, Enterprise IT Service Management platform, and various cloud-based applications.
  • Building, configuring, and deploying cloud system resources, servers, and other multi-user devices to support virtual machines, storage, networks, and other off-premises and cloud resources.
  • Providing architecture and design support to create specialized OIG and Agency-wide cloud-based systems and solutions.
  • Identifying inefficiencies and vulnerabilities in IT systems and resources, conducting feasibility studies for enhancements, and suggesting improvements to reduce costs and maximize taxpayer value.
  • Coordinating significant technical matters with representatives of internal and external organizations.
  • Managing accounts, system administration, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.
  • Working with DOJ/OIG business stakeholders to implement solutions that increase agility, flexibility, and durability across diversified landscapes.
  • Developing business process documentation, standard operating procedures, knowledge base articles, technical bulletins, and other documents supporting the IT Division.

Salary
  • $105,383 - $195,200/year

Qualifications

DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using 5 U.S.C., Section 3304 and 5 CFR Part 337, Subpart B, which is the OPM approved government-wide direct-hire authority.

Basic Requirement

  1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  2.   3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Specialized Experience GS-13: To qualify for this position at the GS-13 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level obtained in the federal government or private sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience which has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.) Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:
  1. Administering Azure Active Directory, managing user accounts, groups, and access permissions to ensure compliance with security policies.
  2. Configuring virtual hardware components such as CPU, memory, storage, and network interfaces to meet specific workload requirements.
  3. Implementing policies to enforce governance standards and compliance controls across cloud subscriptions, maintaining security and compliance.
  4. Troubleshooting network connectivity issues within Azure Virtual Networks, resolving latency and packet loss issues.
  5. Monitoring system performance using various cloud monitoring tools, identifying and mitigating bottlenecks to optimize system efficiency and reliability.
Specialized Experience GS-14: To qualify for this position at the GS-2210-14 grade level, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level obtained in the federal government or private sector. (Specialized experience is paid or unpaid experience that has equipped you with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the position's duties successfully). Examples of specialized experience include such duties as:
  1. Administering Azure Active Directory (AAD) to manage user identities and groups and access permissions across Azure cloud environments.
  2. Configuring Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, and network security groups (NSGs) to secure network environments.
  3. Automating routine administrative tasks and workflows using Automation and PowerShell scripting to improve operational efficiency.
  4. Leveraging advanced monitoring and log analytics tools to monitor, analyze, and optimize the performance of resources and applications.
  5. Configuring and managing Azure virtual machines (VMs), storage accounts, and SQL databases to ensure optimal performance and availability.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade level (or equivalent) by the closing date of this announcement.
