Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities 

  • You will provide technical and paralegal services for attorneys assigned to the Office of Advice Counsel. 
  • You will prepare documents and orders, serve legal documents, updates calendars, prepare status reports, review transcripts, and review policies and procedures.
  • You will drive letters and documents for review, create calendar due dates, and maintain files.
  • You will conduct necessary research, update databases, assist with the preparation of presentations and correspondence, and perform work on special projects.
  • You will perform a variety of other duties related to procuring supplies and maintaining inventory, documenting processes and procedures, and updating the OAC library.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A high school diploma and experience in providing administrative support for an attorney(s) or a legal office.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • A high school diploma and four years’ work experience directly related to the area of employment.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and word processing. 
  • Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures. 
  • Knowledge of applicable terminology/research practices and relevant laws and regulations. 
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize and prioritize tasks. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing, with internal and external customers and members of the public.  
  • Ability to perform work in a fast-paced setting.  

Other Requirements

  • Position works in an office environment with extended periods of sitting and standing.
  • May require occasional work outside of normal office hours.
  • May be required to lift, carry, move and/or position objects weighing up to 25 lbs.  
  • Daily filing, data entry, telephone and computer use.
  • Frequent communication and interaction with internal and external customers required.
