Job Description

Recruit Secure is collaborating with a large, well-established, for-profit Healthcare company that owns a network of Addiction and Mental Health treatment centers and is seeking an experienced In-House Legal Counsel with strong experiences working with HR issues in Behavioral healthcare. The company owns many behavioral clinics and facilities (inpatient and outpatient) across several states in the West and others. The focus of this position is to assist the company in all aspects of employment policies, programs, and initiatives to provide legal guidance to the HR teams and act as a strategic partner to senior management. The successful candidate should have a deep understanding of operations, including a financial understanding of payers and billing, as well as federal, state, local, and Department of Health guidelines and regulations governing the Behavioral and Mental Health industry. This position reports to the CEO can be based in Lakewood, NJ.  Candidates can live anywhere in Metro NY area (but must be able to attend periodic meetings in Lakewood, NJ).

Qualifications and Required Experience:

  • At least 4-5 years of health care experience (Mental Health and/or Addiction treatment preferred)
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school
  • Licensed and registered to practice law in Florida or New Jersey
  • In-house experience and healthcare law knowledge required
  • Experience in performing internal investigations of employee-related issues and disputes.
  • Experience providing advice and counsel to the Human Resources Department on employment and labor issues that arise
  • Experience negotiating and settling agreements between the Company and external service providers
  • Ability to work with outside Counsel
  • Excellent analytical and advisory skills;
  • Knowledgeable of DBHDS and DMAS healthcare regulations, as well as State and Federal Regulatory Compliance within Behavioral Healthcare
  • Experience in managing multiple projects in multiple states
  • Ability to operate independently with minimal supervision and address a variety of legal issues
  • Ability to travel (minimally)
