Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Legal Billing Analyst to facilitate the smooth processing of legal invoices through client online billing platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that client matters are properly listed in online billing platforms, budgets are submitted and approved in those systems, budgets are sufficient, and all billable attorneys and staff are included online. Ensuring compliance with client billing guidelines, and working closely with attorneys, clients, and vendors to resolve billing issues in a timely manner.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure client matters are properly listed in online billing platforms, budgets are submitted and approved in those systems, budgets are sufficient and in accordance with client billing guidelines and firm policies.
  • Ensure all billable attorneys and staff are included online.
  • Ensure timely submission of bills through e-billing systems (e.g., Serengeti, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, Tymetrix, etc.) through coordination with billing department.
  • Work with attorneys and legal staff to ensure billing accuracy and resolve billing inquiries or disputes.
  • Monitor time entry compliance and coordinate with timekeepers to resolve missing or incorrect entries.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of client-specific billing protocols and industry compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate revenue recognition.
  • Prepare billing reports and summaries for internal stakeholders and clients as needed.
  • Support process improvement initiatives related to legal billing and operations.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in legal billing, law firm finance, or legal operations.
  • Proficient in e-billing systems and legal billing platforms (e.g., Legal Tracker, CounselLink, Legal Tracker, Tymetrix, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of legal billing practices, UTBMS codes, and LEDES billing formats.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general office software.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Knowledge of legal matter management systems.
  • Familiarity with billing compliance in multiple jurisdictions or practice areas.
