- POSITION SUMMARY
- Provides legal assistance to City Attorney’s Office advising City Commission, the City Manager’s Office, department-level management and staff on a variety of legal issues.This is a non-classified "at will" position and not subject to Civil Service Rules or any collective bargaining agreement.
PLEASE NOTE: This position will remain open until a sufficient number of qualifying applications have been received.This job classification is in Management Category I for benefits purposes, which includes Ten (10) additional Management Vacation days per calendar year and a monthly Employee Expense Allowance of $390.00. - ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

- Performs legal research and prepares legal opinions and advice on numerous legal issues for city commission, city departments, boards, agencies and other legal entities of the city
- Provides legal review and advice for claims and complaints by or against the city and its other legal entities; recommends action to be taken by city officials and other representatives
- Negotiates terms and conditions of contracts and agreements
- Draft Engineer’s Certificates
- Review and revise Maintenance Agreements
- Draft, Revise and Review Restrictive Covenants
- Provide Opinions on the City Charter and municipal law matters in general
- Draft Development Agreements and ancillary Agreements
- Provide legal advice on Land Use and Zoning Matters
- Review and Revise Parking Agreements
- Prepare Resolutions and Ordinances
- Prepares proposed legislation and makes recommendations to repeal or amend existing laws.
- Directs the work for and supervises paralegal and administrative assistants
- Attends City commission meetings, planning commission meetings and other meetings as assigned
- Performs related work as required
- JOB REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Three or more years of increasingly responsible experience in law
- License to practice law in the State of Florida in accordance with the Florida Bar Association
- Experience in Land Use and Zoning Matters
