Position Summary
The Associate Attorney is responsible for advising and providing fair and unbiased legal representation to clients of Reynolds Defense Firm for DUI and related criminal charges. This position develops relationships with their clients, establishes legal needs and helps clients understand their legal needs and navigate the legal process.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Associate Attorney I & II
- Responsible for a caseload of 25-35 clients facing DUI and related criminal charges
- Work closely with a dedicated legal assistant to ensure effective client care
- Interpret law for clients and help them understand their legal options
- Develop case strategies and solutions that meet the needs of the clients
- Represent clients at arraignments, hearings, and trials
- Litigate administrative hearings to contest driving privilege suspensions
- Negotiate with prosecutors to achieve the best possible outcomes
- Conduct legal research, draft motions, and present arguments to the court
- Participate in training to stay updated on changes and new developments in the DUI field
- Perform other related duties as required and assigned
Associate Attorney III (Senior Attorney)
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned for Associate Attorney I and II, the Senior position may include:
- Assisting in training and mentoring junior attorneys as requested by the Head of Legal
- Cross training in additional jurisdictions
- Taking on department projects as requested by the Legal Department Administrator
- May oversee the legal department in Legal Department Administrator’s absence
Required Education and Experience
Associate Attorney II
- J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing of the Oregon State Bar
- Some experience in Oregon criminal law practice
- Familiarity with DUII defense and felony cases preferred
- Some jury trial experience preferred
- Working knowledge of Oregon’s criminal code, case law, DMV license consequences for criminal and non-criminal actions
- Experience and working knowledge of at least one metro-area circuit court preferred (Clackamas, Multnomah, or Washington County)
Associate Attorney III
- All qualifications listed for Associate Attorney II
- Substantial experience in Oregon criminal law practice
- Prior experience (1-3 years) with DUII defense and felony cases
- Prior jury trial experience
- Previous experience and excellent working knowledge of at least one metro area circuit court (Clackamas, Multnomah, or Washington County)
- Strong leadership and mentoring qualities

Travel
This position requires regular travel to covered jurisdictions.
Salary
- $80,000 - $130,000/year
