The Paralegal is responsible for supporting high-volume residential real estate transactions from contract through closing. This role plays a critical part in due diligence, including reviewing title and Homeowners Association (HOA) governing documents, resolving title issues, and ensuring properties are delivered with clean, insurable title. The Paralegal partners closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to drive efficient, compliant, and timely closings.
Responsibilities:
- Support residential real estate closings from contract execution through post-close completion
- Coordinate with attorneys, title/escrow companies, and brokers to ensure smooth transactions
- Review title commitments, exceptions, and recorded documents; identify and resolve issues impacting ownership
- Drive resolution of liens, defects, and other closing blockers (e.g., payoffs, releases, corrective instruments)
- Review HOA governing documents for leasing and occupancy restrictions; flag risks and operational impacts
- Maintain organized, audit-ready transaction files aligned with internal controls
- Participate in pipeline and transaction meetings; provide status updates and identify risks
- Collaborate with Acquisitions, Asset Management, and Legal to escalate and resolve issues
- Assist with investigations, administrative matters, and legal documentation as needed
- Provide notary services and maintain proper documentation
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a law firm or corporate legal department preferred
Minimum 3 years of experience in real estate transactions, including title review, escrow closings, and legal research
Paralegal certificate preferred
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and office systems required
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple transactions and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Experience reviewing ALTA surveys preferred
Active Notary Public preferred
Exposure to contract review and light drafting preferred
Compensation
The anticipated pay range/scale for this position is $38.54 to $48.16 Hourly. Actual starting base pay within this range will depend on factors including geographic location, education, training, skills, and relevant experience.Additional Compensation
This position is not bonus-eligible.This position is eligible to receive discretionary stock.
