About the Position


We’re looking for a moderately-experienced (3-7 years) detail oriented paralegal who is passionate about helping nonprofits in a fast-paced environment. Our ideal candidate will be an organized, people-oriented professional who is ready to help nonprofits thrive by providing accurate, friendly services.

The Paralegal will work directly with our nonprofit clients via Zoom, email and phone, and draft corporate and similar documents. This person will draft documents for clients using information provided by clients like name, address, and mission. They will engage with potential clients on Zoom calls to assess their needs and educate them about our services. This position will also involve plenty of time management, monitoring progress of projects, and communicating with clients to ensure they’re up to speed on progress. Bring a positive attitude, an attention for detail, and a passion for helping people and come help us save the turtles!


Responsibilities

  • Speaks with potential clients and current clients about their needs, our services, and answers questions generally over Zoom and phone
  • Handles multiple projects for multiple clients, organizing deadlines and priorities appropriately
  • Drafts documents, often using templates created by our attorneys, including all relevant documents to the process of starting a nonprofit (articles of incorporation, bylaws, IRS Form 1023, etc.)
  • Communicates with clients via email and phone or Zoom about the status of their projects
  • Inputs data into the various systems including Asana and Salesforce accurately (no prior experience needed with either system, training will be provided)
  • Proactively communicates about obstacles or issues to direct supervisor
  • Provides feedback to team leader on any issues or potential improvements to ensure processes run as smoothly as possible for clients
  • Reviews, summarizes, and prepares correspondence and applications.
  • Enters billing and time entry data into firm system in a timely manner.
  • Ensures efficient and timely communication with colleagues and team members.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications

  • 3-7 years of experience as a paralegal or similar position requiring high volume production
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to build relationships quickly
  • Attention to detail and care for the accuracy of work
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and a willingness to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with compliance-related matters in at least one highly regulated space (healthcare, law, corporate compliance, etc.) is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and a self-starter
  • Positive and “can do” attitude
  • Exemplary personal and professional integrity and business ethics, as well as respect for others
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (including Word and Excel),
  • Proficiency with managing PDFs (usually in Adobe Acrobat Pro), 
  • Proficiency with Google G Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, etc.)
  • Experience with Dropbox and/or Salesforce is a plus, but not required


Education

BA/BS Degree with a Paralegal Certification

Or, AA/AS Degree with a Paralegal Certification

Or, 2-4 additional years of experience as a legal admin or paralegal in a nuanced legal environment (e.g., bankruptcy, tax, disability rights, immigration, etc.)


Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position pays $50,000-$60,000 annually, with opportunity for additional compensation through monthly bonuses dependent upon performance. Additional benefits include options such as our 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan with a 5% employer match, health, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, paid opportunities for professional development and continuing education, and other personal and professional benefits.


Work Location

Charitable Allies is inside the Pyramids buildings on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. After the initial 90 days, there is an opportunity to work from home one day per week, dependent upon performance.
