About the Team:
Relativity Space’s Legal team is nimble and entrepreneurial, filled with collaborative team players with deep domain expertise dedicated to each other’s and the company’s success. The team sits at the epicenter of business activities and decision-making and is responsible for identifying and managing risks across the organization to ensure Relativity is adequately protected through its rapid growth. Team members manage the full suite of legal and regulatory issues, including intellectual property, employment, licensing, procurement, government contracting, vendor and customer contracts, trade compliance, corporate transactions, and governance, among other business-enabling responsibilities. Unique to Relativity’s fast-paced, high-growth environment, the team works across many departments to support Relativity's ambitious goals. Additionally, the company is in a formative phase, with enough structure to build from and still plenty of room for you to define what’s next. About the Role:
- Work within the Company’s Regulatory Compliance team, serving as a subject matter expert on U.S. federal and international regulatory regimes relevant to aerospace and defense industries, including:
- Government contracting requirements (FAR/DFARS)
- National security reviews
- Cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-171, CMMC)
- Export controls (ITAR, EAR)
- Implement a risk management process for government contracts compliance for Relativity’s lines of business.
- Develop and implement internal risk management and compliance programs related to Relativity’s government business, with a specific emphasis on trade controls, procurement integrity, and security requirements.
- Work with Relativity’s Trade Compliance function to maintain an effective export compliance program under the ITAR and the EAR, including drafting compliance policies and procedures as well as administering training
About You:
- Law degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law.
- 5+ years’ experience as practicing attorney, either with a large law firm or in-house.
- Experience analyzing and negotiating complex commercial and government contracts.
- Experience in government cybersecurity requirements and data privacy regulations.
- Ability to interface with Relativity’s federal and state government regulators and customers.
- Ability to receive a federal security clearance at the highest level issued to Relativity Space.
Nice to haves but not required:
- Experience managing corporate compliance programs.
- Legal experience in export control matters
- Legal experience negotiating customer contracts, both commercial and government.
- Experience working in or with the aerospace industry
