Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining constant up-to-date knowledge of agency policy and procedures, rules and regulations governing the inmate disciplinary process. 
  • Investigates charges and develops all avenues of advocacy necessary to ensure that full due process is afforded the inmate during disciplinary hearings.  
  • Interviews witnesses and presents supporting evidence.  
  • When security mandates, will be present on the inmate's behalf and safeguards the interests of the inmate during testimony.  
  • Establishes good working relationship with institutional staff in order to effectively gather facts relating to inmate disciplinary cases. 
This position will be working at Kirkland Correctional Institution.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A high school diploma and related experience. A bachelor’s degree may be substituted for the required related experience.


SCDC Minimum Requirements: 

  • A high school diploma and related experience.

  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred working knowledge of agency rules and regulations governing inmate disciplinary hearing resolutions and the ability to communicate effectively with inmates and administrative personnel.
