DIRECTOR OF LEGAL SERVICES
Join our team as the Director of Legal Services providing holistic legal representation to survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This position oversees a wide range of civil matters—including protective orders, divorce, custody, and housing—while ensuring effective service delivery and trauma-informed safety planning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A juris doctor degree.
- License to practice law in North Dakota.
- Two years of related legal experience.
- Experience in family law and protective orders preferred.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- Salary: $64,000-$87,600 based on education and experience.

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct Service
- Provide holistic civil legal representation and advice for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking during protective order applications and hearings.
- Provide legal representation and consultations for survivors in civil law matters such as divorce, child custody, and support hearings, housing, immigration, campus Title IX hearings, and other legal actions.
- Ensure effective delivery of legal services.
- Offer safety planning and referrals to clients as appropriate.
Guidance and Programmatic Support
- Offer mentorship to advocacy and other agency staff.
- Assist with visioning for future programmatic enhancements and growth.
- Maintain compliance with agency policies and procedures.
Coordinated Community Response
- Collaborate with the courts, justice system, other agencies, and victim advocates while providing services to clients.
- Collaborate with and provide outreach to organizations working with underserved populations.
- Provide information and outreach to the community regarding legal services offered by CVIC.
- Serve on community and statewide boards and committees as assigned.
Grant Management
- Provide statistical and outcome measurement data as required by CVIC and granting sources.
- Compile information, write narratives and contribute to semi-annual progress reports as requested.
- Maintain accurate time keeping and grant activities
Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely records of all contacts with clients and other agencies according to the guidelines established.
