Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Litigation Legal Assistant to join our team. A successful candidate will have a genuine passion and interest in employment law. This role is ideal for a recent graduate with an interest in employment law who is eager to be a part of a team fighting against employer misconduct.
The person having this position must possess good communication skills, organizational skills, and have a thorough understanding of Bibiyan Law Group, P.C. policies, procedures and expectations. This is a full-time on-site position.
Because of the fluctuating demands of the company’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize files; update files with case status, information, and notify the assigned attorney.
- Manage assigned attorney's calendar and send reminders, schedule and calendar appointments and meetings for attorneys.
- Prepare documents for filing with state and federal courts.
- Draft letters to clients, including mediation, deposition, distributing discovery, distribution of funds, etc.
- Assist paralegals with the discovery process.
- Draft case initiation documents, summons, complaints, notices, motions, civil case cover sheet, civil case cover sheet addendum, and any accompanying documents.
- Assist attorney in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials, and conferences.
- Filling out forms accompanying case initiation documents a. This includes summons, complaint, civil case cover sheet, civil case cover sheet addendum, and any accompanying documents specific to other venues
- Prepare and File Proof of Service of Summons for all completed service
- Receive docs addressed to the attorney, scan, save to file, send attorney notifications on it
- Drafting notices, case management statements and post jury fees.
- Creation of shells
- Draft letters to clients, including mediation, deposition, distributing discovery, distribution of funds, etc.
- Send daily reminders to attorneys regarding next day’s hearings + tentative rulings.
- Coordinate Mediator Availability
- Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements
- Take ownership of all client matters, concerns, and inquiries brought to your attention and resolve in a timely manner
- Must be courteous and gracious, always maintaining a professional demeanor
- Establish and maintain good communications and teamwork with fellow colleagues and other departments within the firm

Knowledge, Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree (strongly preferred)
- Spanish Bilingual (Required)
- Computer Proficiency: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Dropbox, Filevine, Adobe, and Excel, or other similar software programs necessary to perform essential duties of the position
- Critical and objective thinker
- Strong writing skills
- Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience in employment and/or class action law (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of state and federal courts and agencies within labor and employment law practices
- Knowledge of service deadlines for various litigation tasks, including familiarity with the California Code of Civil Procedure
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
- Ability to communicate effectively and handle multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner
- Ability to work well under pressure

- The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate

Compensation
The compensation for this position is competitive and overall based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. This compensation ranges from $20.00 - $27.00 per hour.

Salary- $20 - $27
