Mid-Level Litigation Associate

McGuireWoods seeks a 4–6 year associate to join its Financial Services & Securities Enforcement team in San Francisco. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation and regulatory-facing matters for leading financial institutions and fintechs, including high-stakes class actions, commercial disputes, and emerging areas such as mass arbitrations.

The cornerstone of McGuireWoods’ financial services litigation group is the team’s ability to effectively represent the interests of the vital, growing and increasingly complex financial services sector. This includes high-stakes, multimillion-dollar class actions and other complex litigation. Matters include nationwide consumer class actions involving millions of class members, California-wide cases alleging unfair competition, fraud, violation of various consumer protection statutes, complex Ponzi-scheme matters brought against financial institutions, and the rapidly evolving landscape of mass arbitrations. The firm also represents banks and financial institutions in commercial claims such as foreclosure actions, breach of contract, fiduciary claims, and bank defense matters.

What You’ll Do:

• Manage key aspects of litigation from pleadings through resolution
• Draft and argue dispositive and non-dispositive motions
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings
• Work directly with clients on strategy, risk assessment, and case management
• Contribute to complex matters involving consumer protection, fraud, unfair competition, and financial services disputes
• Collaborate across teams on matters that may involve parallel regulatory or investigative components
• Mentor junior associates and oversee discrete workstreams

• 4–6 years of litigation experience at an AmLaw 100 or comparable firm
• Experience with complex commercial litigation, class actions, mass arbitrations, and/or regulatory or investigations work
• Strong writing, analytical, and client-facing skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple matters and take ownership of key workstreams
• California Bar required
• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus

Salary: $310,000 - 390,000
