Basic Function
The candidate selected for this position will serve as the statewide Section Director for the Medicaid Fraud Control Section, overseeing investigations and operations for cases handled by the Medicaid Fraud Control Section.
Work entails directing all aspects of complex, comprehensive, and highly confidential criminal investigations conducted in accordance with The Commonwealth Attorneys Act, the Public Welfare Code, and other applicable Commonwealth laws, statutes, and regulations, and performing a wide variety of administrative duties. The employee ensures compliance within the Section with established policy and determines program effectiveness. This position reports to the Deputy Chief of the Bureau of Criminal Investigations.
- Examples Of Duties
- Assigns, plans, directs, and schedules all phases of criminal investigations conducted by the Medicaid Fraud Control Section
- Directs the development of and evaluates informational sources to determine reliability
- Plans, directs, schedules, and assigns work to subordinate agents and clerical staff
- Monitors all assigned investigations to ensure compliance with established policy and program effectiveness
- Reviews all investigative reports to assure completeness, accuracy, and technical correctness
- Travels to regional offices on a regular basis for case review and as necessary for certain complex investigations
- Resolves and/or responds to employee grievances and complaints
- Recommends favorable or adverse personnel actions
- Plans, develops, and participates in a program of on-the-job training for lower level agents
- Prepares and signs Employee Performance Evaluations
- Develops and maintains liaison with other law enforcement agencies
- Coordinates and monitors new agents’ progress in the Field Training Program

- Minimum Experience and Training
In addition to the below qualifications, applicants must have Act 120 certification, certification from an Act 120 equivalent training program as determined by the Office of Attorney General, or have successfully completed the Commonwealth Investigators Training Program.
- Two years as a Special Agent III OR
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in Criminology, Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a related major and five years of qualifying experience in the law enforcement field OR
- Nine years of criminal investigative work of a technical level equivalent to the duties and responsibilities performed by a Special Agent OR
- Any equivalent combination of experience, training, and education
