Job Description

  About the Role: As a Legal Assistant, you’ll play an essential role in keeping our attorneys and teams running smoothly. You’ll collaborate across practice groups, interact with clients and support a wide variety of legal and administrative activities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in starting or growing a career in the legal field, offering hands-on experience and exposure to multiple areas of practice. This position is based in Charlotte, NC and follows a standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime as business needs arise. What You’ll Do: In this role, you’ll help ensure day-to-day operations run seamlessly by: Preparing legal documents, pleadings, contracts, and correspondence from drafts or dictation Managing attorney calendars and helping keep deadlines on track Tracking court filings and key case deadlines Supporting time entry and billing processes Coordinating travel arrangements for attorneys and clients Handling a variety of administrative tasks including scheduling, transcription, document management, and mail processing Managing incoming calls and directing inquiries appropriately Assisting colleagues and contributing to a collaborative team environment Supporting client invoicing and maintaining accurate records Organizing and maintaining both electronic and physical client files Managing attorney contact databases and assisting with business development efforts Preparing closed files for archive storage Upholding firm policies and maintaining strict confidentiality   Role Requirements: We’re seeking someone who is organized, proactive, and eager to contribute to a team. Ideal candidates will bring: 0-2 years of experience as a legal secretary or as an administrative assistant in a law firm or legal department and an Associate’s degree, or the equivalent combination of experience and education. Bachelor’s degree preferred.   Exposure to litigation environments is a plus Strong adaptability and willingness to learn Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong typing skills (75 WPM preferred) Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong interpersonal skills and a client-service mindset Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment A self-starter mentality with strong problem-solving skills A collaborative approach and willingness to support team members as needed
