Job Description
The paralegal will be responsible for supporting attorneys in managing the discovery process in litigated matters before New York State and Federal courts and administrative agencies. The ideal candidate must possess Paralegal experience within practice areas including New York Employment and Housing Discrimination liability, Directors & Officers liability, Condominium and Cooperatives and Homeowner’s Associations and be familiar with SDHR and EEOC matters.
Duties include the following:
- Reviewing files for discovery compliance
- Supporting attorneys in the preparation of legal documents, including discovery responses and discovery demands;
- Assisting in the preparation of Position Statements and supporting exhibits for cases pending in administrative agencies, including SDHR and EEOC;
- Effectively coordinating services with economic, medical and other technical experts,
- Drafting subpoenas for trial;
- Performing legal and public record research;
- Communicating and interacting professionally with clients, Claim examiners, adversaries, and judicial personnel;
Qualifications
Demonstrated cutting edge knowledge and facility with contemporary technology, systems and software utilized to practice law in a digital environment; Knowledge of PROLAW is a plus
Excellent time management and organizational skills;
Experience and ability to thrive and provide quality paralegal support in a time sensitive, high volume, team environment;
Excellent written and oral communication, analytical ability and interpersonal skills
5+ years experience of relevant litigation paralegal experience;
Bachelor's degree, Certificate of completion from a recognized paralegal training program
The pay range for the role is $54,000 to $86,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors.
