Job Description

The Employment Law Group (TELG) is a plaintiff-side trial firm representing employees who stand up to wrongdoing in the workplace with practice areas including whistleblower, qui tam, and discrimination law. TELG is currently looking for May 2021 law school graduates to join our team as a Rewards Legal Fellow (“Fellow”) in our whistleblower rewards practice focusing exclusively on matters representing employees who have first-hand knowledge of fraud on the government. This is an excellent opportunity for those eager to immediately expand on their law school education and gain confidence as a legal practitioner by assuming responsibility on litigation projects across a variety of legal matters and jurisdictions.

Throughout their tenure, Fellows gain substantive hands-on legal experience that develops their lawyering skills daily as they learn legal procedure and strategy as well as client management and client advocacy through their work. This is an excellent opportunity for recently barred attorneys to put their law school education to practical use, to gain a better understanding of the practice of law, and to see how strong work product can have a great impact on our clients and our practice.

The Fellow will work directly with the lead Principal of the Rewards practice group and the Rewards Associate on matters to provide high-level assistance throughout all phases of case procedure. Duties include:

  • Case management of a diverse portfolio of legal matters;
  • Writing comprehensive drafts of legal documents including, but not limited to: pre-disclosure presentations, complaints, disclosure statements, motions and orders, supplemental disclosure memos, and settlement agreements;
  • Performing substantive and procedural legal research;
  • Extensive client contact and communication;
  • Supporting AUSAs in investigating clients’ whistleblower fraud claims;
  • Calendaring meetings and deadlines, preparing comprehensive agendas and meeting minutes, and additional administrative case maintenance responsibilities;
  • Client billing, including posting daily time entries; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

This fellowship aims to shape recent law school graduates into successful future attorneys as they gain valuable hands-on legal experience and learn the inner workings of a busy litigation firm. Throughout their tenure, Fellows will grow their lawyering skills exponentially, including but not limited to persuasive and effective writing, clear and concise communication, client billing, and case strategy. TELG supports this development with a thorough orientation onboarding, ongoing training, and mentorship from Principals and Associates.

Fellows need to remain flexible and adaptive to successfully prioritize action items across a dynamic caseload and to jump daily from case to case staying on top the vital facts, procedure, deadlines, and demands of each matter. Fellows must be able to maintain strict client confidentiality working on matters under seal. Ideal candidates are proactive and highly motivated professionals with strong organizational, legal writing, time management, and communication skills.

TELG offers a competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and paid PTO including professional development. TELG also pays bar membership fees. The position has a flexible workspace policy that accommodates in-office, remote, or hybrid work options at the Fellow’s discretion, with IT equipment provided to outfit a remote office space.
