Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Legal Secretary with strong insurance defense and civil litigation background. The ideal candidate will provide high-level legal administrative support, manage litigation workflows, and ensure accurate, timely preparation of trial and court documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage attorney calendars, scheduling court appearances, depositions, meetings, and discovery deadlines.
- Prepare and file pleadings, discovery, pre-trial, and trial documents in compliance with court rules.
- Maintain and organize confidential legal files (electronic and physical).
- Draft and edit correspondence, memos, and case-related documents.
- Review and route incoming mail in OnBase for attorney review and calendaring.
- Liaise with clients, co-counsel, experts, and court staff as needed.
- Transcribe dictation and screen incoming calls.
- Provide backup support to other secretaries and assist with firm projects.
RequirementsQualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 7+ years of defense trial/litigation experience; 3+ years recent CA civil litigation experience.
- Proven trial preparation experience.
- In-depth knowledge of California court procedures and rules.
- Strong organizational, communication, and independent work skills.
- Proficiency in MS Word; knowledge of case management software.
- Typing speed of 70+ WPM.
