- Job Responsibilities
Under limited supervision, provide support to attorneys representing the State in state and federal courts. Responsibilities include:
Conducting legal research
Preparing briefs, pleadings, memoranda, or other legal documents.
Assisting with courtroom hearings and proceedings.
Reviewing and summarizing evidence and exhibits
Supporting junior law clerks by monitoring caseloads and offering guidance on tasks and assignments.
- Minimum and Additional Requirements
Must be a current law student graduating this semester, transferring from out of state, and preparing to be sworn in or a recent graduate from an ABA-accredited law school.
Upon transferring into a permanent Assistant Attorney General position, the applicant must complete Rule 403 requirements.
Candidates involved in the State Grand Jury matters will be sworn to SGJ secrecy protocols and required to participate in the random drug testing program.
Additional Requirements:- Position may be required to travel and transport files.
- Proficiency with computers, software, and technology, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and related tools.
- Occasional overnight travel may be necessary, particularly during trials or hearings throughout the State.
