Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Collections & Judgment Enforcement Attorney to join our team. This role involves managing a diverse and active docket of commercial collection and post-judgment enforcement matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of judgment enforcement mechanisms, excellent litigation skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Collections
- Handle all phases of collection litigation, including case evaluation, drafting pleadings, motion practice, discovery, and court appearances.
- Manage a high-volume docket with attention to detail, strategic planning, and adherence to deadlines.
- Develop and execute effective strategies tailored to each case and client objective.
- Work with a variety of computer software – Case Management Software
Judgment Enforcement
- Conduct in-depth asset investigations to identify bank accounts, employment, property, and other collectible assets.
- Utilize all available enforcement mechanisms, such as:
- Bank restraints and levies
- Wage garnishments
- Property executions
- Turnover petitions and motions
- Information subpoenas, depositions, and subpoenas duces tecum
Client Communication & Strategy
- Maintain direct communication with clients regarding case status, strategy, risks, and outcomes.
- Prepare clear updates, recommendations, and analysis to support client decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistency, efficiency, and best practices in handling matters.
Negotiation & Resolution
- Assess potential damages and collectability to determine case value.
- Engage in settlement discussions with adversaries and opposing counsel, balancing firmness with professionalism.
- Draft, review, and negotiate settlement agreements and stipulations.
Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and ethical guidelines.
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic case files, documentation, and billing records.
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Active bar admission in New York (admission to New Jersey a plus).
- 3–7 years of experience focused on collections, judgment enforcement, or related litigation.
- Strong knowledge of the CPLR, state enforcement procedures, and practical judgment enforcement strategies.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Proven ability to manage a substantial caseload efficiently while meeting deadlines.
- Comfortable collaborating and working independently with minimal supervision.
- Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with clients, courts, and opposing parties.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with commercial collections litigation.
- Familiarity with federal and state enforcement
- Experience with case management software and workflow automation tools.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
