We are currently seeking a Practice Innovation Junior Analyst Intern in our Practice Technology & Innovation team, reporting directly to the Director of Innovation and Practice Technology.
Akin is committed to providing summer interns with a well-rounded summer experience. In addition to gaining work experience in the role defined below, summer interns will participate in various training sessions and intern-focused programming throughout the summer.
The Practice Technology & Innovation team helps drive the firm’s efforts to evaluate, implement, and promote emerging legal technologies, including AI-powered solutions, automation, and practice efficiency tools. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI initiatives, participate in legal tech pilots, and contribute to change management strategies that ensure successful adoption across the firm.
The position can reside in the New York or Washington, DC office and will support key projects related to AI, legal technology evaluation, and change management strategies for new tools and processes.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Assist in researching and evaluating AI-driven legal technology, including tools for document automation, contract analysis, and litigation support.
- Support pilot programs by gathering user feedback, tracking adoption metrics, and assessing impact.
- Contribute to change management initiatives, helping attorneys and business professionals integrate AI into their workflows.
- Prepare reports and presentations on technology findings, AI trends, and adoption strategies.
- Develop training materials and user guides to support technology rollout efforts.
- Collaborate with IT, Knowledge Management, and Innovation teams on firmwide technology initiatives.
- Stay informed on emerging AI and legal technology trends and help assess their potential impact on legal practice.
Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; preference for students studying business, legal studies, data analytics, computer science, or a related field.
- Interest in AI, legal technology, and digital transformation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); experience with data analysis tools or AI technologies is a plus.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to evaluate and synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Enthusiasm for problem-solving, process improvement, and innovation in the legal industry.
The hourly range for this position in New York and Washington, DC is$19.50 to $24.00
