The California Department of Justice seeks to hire a POD Coordinator (Analyst II) to join a “POD” of legal support personnel to support attorneys in the Antitrust Section. Supervised by the POD Legal Support Manager (Supervisor I), the POD Coordinator independently and collaboratively executes complex analytical tasks. The POD Coordinator serves as team lead and specializes in designated legal practice areas and acts as the primary liaison for assigned Deputy Attorneys General (DAGs) and their supervisors.
The POD Coordinator delegates assignments to POD members, including the POD Analyst (Analyst I), Senior Legal Technician (Legal Secretary), Legal Technician (Senior Legal Typist), Legal Tech Trainee (OT), and Seasonal Clerks, and tracks and reports on overall project status. The POD Coordinator also collaborates with PODs in other cities and assists with their court filings and other operational tasks.
The POD Coordinator focuses on the team’s operations, providing mentorship, training, and problem-solving guidance to POD members while monitoring the team’s performance and task execution. The POD Coordinator compiles and delivers regular progress reports to management regarding staff development and aligns team protocols with training from the Office of Professional Development and the Case Management Section. The role also entails researching and implementing optimal uses for electronic filing portals, including CM/ECF, Odyssey eFile, File & ServeXpress, and TrueFiling.
The POD Coordinator troubleshoots document issues for the team, including resolving file corruption, managing Judicial Council forms, and mastering applications like Word, Legal MacPac, Best Authority. Prepares and processes legal documents for filing in all state and federal courts in complex legal filings; identifies appropriate declaration of services; verifies case citations and quoted text; and electronically files legal documents.

Salary- $6,031 - $7,547/month

Desirable Qualifications
In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
- Experience working in a legal office with substantive experience as a legal secretary or paralegal, and Analyst I/II (Legal Specialist or Senior Legal Specialist).
- Substantive experience with training, coaching, and mentoring legal secretaries working in civil litigation.
- Knowledge and experience working in or training those supporting the AntiTrust section.
- Experience working on large, complex cases, including coordination with multiple attorneys on both sides, handling voluminous pleadings and correspondence, and scheduling/tracking depositions.
- Experience working with other state AGs or outside counsel.
- Experience with making out-of-state travel arrangements and requests for reimbursement.
- Accessing, using, and maintaining documents on SharePoint.
- Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint); Smart Sheets; ProLaw.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present information to stakeholders and leadership.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting competing deadlines.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, including the ability to analyze data and develop effective solutions to complex and sensitive issues. Ability to compile data/metrics and produce reports.
