The Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office is located in downtown Tacoma, Washington, in the County-City Building and employs 255 staff, which includes 140 deputy prosecutors.
  
You will represent the State of Washington as a deputy prosecuting attorney in the prosecution of misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor offenses at the District Court level. How to be Successful in this Role:
We are looking for an attorney who feels comfortable in the courtroom and advocating on behalf of a client. You will perform duties with professional discretion and within office guidelines, professional ethics and standards, and legal requirements. The ability to handle high volume caseload, work under pressure with tight timelines is essential and the ability to collaborate with clients and colleagues in a collaborative work environment.

Core Daily Responsibilities:

• Represents the State of Washington at all stages of criminal proceedings at the Superior Court level, the Juvenile Court level and/or at the Appellate Court level. 
• Manages a substantial caseload.
• Prepares appropriate briefs for litigation, pre-trial, trial, and on appeal. 
• Prepares witnesses and strategy for trial. 
• Advises detectives during an investigation of major cases to hold offenders legally accountable for their crimes. 
• Represents the State of Washington as the lead attorney on more complex criminal cases such as multi-defendant cases, homicide cases and death penalty cases. 
• May act in a supervisory role in the misdemeanor division, domestic violence unit or in a criminal division trial team.

• Must be admitted as an attorney in the State of Washington (RCW 36.27.010) and a U.S. Citizen (RCW 36.27.010, RCW 36.27.040, and RCW 29). 
• A resume and cover letter are required for this position.

• Experience working as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with oral and written advocacy skills.
• Experience in charging, negotiating, sentencing, and trial work.
