General Job Summary
Island Finance LLC seeks a highly motivated and talented licensed attorney and notary with 1-3 years of experience to work in-house directly with the company’s General Counsel and Legal Department. The Company’s Legal Department provides legal advice and guidance to the company and handles a wide variety of legal issues and matters, including among others, contract drafting, negotiating and review, litigation, corporate law and governance, legislation, civil law, administrative law, labor law and personnel matters. The candidate will assist the Legal Department in reviewing and responding to a wide variety of legal documents and perform other duties as required. Each legal document must be analyzed in the context of the ultimate intention of the document in terms of risk, value and purpose. The successful candidate will be able to, among other things, identify contract issues, analyze complex legal material quickly and accurately, make recommendations on resolution and provide appropriate and timely response.
Responsibilities:
Draft, negotiate, interpret, administer and enforce contracts of all types
Consulting and handling all corporate legal processes
Read, analyze and provide legal guidance on complex legal documents
Legal research and writing and guarding company against legal risks
Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents
Represent company in legal proceedings (administrative, court trials, etc.)
Draft corporate governance documents
Policy development and compliance
Review and indexing of files and records
Minimum Requirements:
Licensed attorney and notary in good standing in Puerto Rico
Fully Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word-Excel-Power Point)
Ability to think critically, quick problem-solving and decision making skills
Strong attention to detail, organization and time-management skills
Ability to adjust priorities in response to unanticipated events
Ability to manage and stay on top of a variety of projects in an organized manner
Ability to work efficiently and quickly, while maintaining good work product
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive issues with professionalism
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in teams, with employees at all levels and under pressure
Excellent Legal research and writing skills
