Job Description

  

SUMMARY:

This position is an executive level management position within a private, global investment company serving as the lead in-house legal advisor to senior management and providing legal guidance on a broad range of complex, international corporate initiatives to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and to manage risk. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the lead in-house legal advisor to senior management on a broad range of complex, domestic and international transactions and legal issues
  • Develop and implement legal strategies that support the organization’s business goals
  • Manage legal disputes and coordinate with external law firms when necessary to handle litigation matters
  • Responsible for due diligence associated with mergers, acquisitions and dispositions
  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts to ensure they are legally sound and protect the organization’s interests
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks and develop strategies to protect the organization from potential liabilities
  • Analyze complex legal issues and develop effective solutions
  • Serve as a corporate officer and attend meetings to strategize, establish, and maintain complex international tax and finance structures
  • Responsible for KYC and KYT compliance
  • Provide legal guidance on employment related matters including contracts, co-investments, policies and disputes
  • Assist with immigration matters for various individuals within the organization
  • Manage and protect the company’s intellectual property such as trademarks, patents and copyrights
  • Assist with various complex insurance programs
  • Assist with federal and international compliance issues and regulatory and tax filings 
  • Supervise and manage a corporate paralegal and collaborate with other in-house legal staff employed by other related entities
  • Manage external relationships with outside counsel and manage corporate legal costs
  • All other duties as assigned
Requirements

  

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, a law degree is required for this position
  • Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Florida
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience with a combination of experience in a law firm and in a corporate legal department
  • A thorough understanding of corporate governance and compliance
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Expert knowledge in Microsoft Office 
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Must have the flexibility to multi-task, and use sound judgement in prioritizing in order to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and be self-motivated
  • Work well in a team environment and be willing to share additional responsibilities when necessary, to meet required deadlines
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English; ability to read, write and communicate in other languages a plus
  • Must be able to travel internationally

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

  • Must be physically able to do assigned work as outlined above. 
  • Must be physically able to sit and use the computer for hours at a time
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds
  • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
