Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Vice President for Legal Affairs and General Counsel (VP-LA/GC) reports directly to the University President. This position oversees and manages the provision of all legal services to the University and Board of Trustees and provides legal counsel and guidance on all legal matters relevant to the University, including but not limited to:
Complex financial, business, and real estate transactions; tax matters, governance
Health law; employment law (including collective bargaining).
Compliance with laws affecting public universities, including state and federal regulatory agency rules and regulations.
Laws pertaining to students, campus safety, and law enforcement; public procurement practices and law; contract law; sponsored research, and intellectual property
Liability and insurance matters.
Compliance with and development of University regulations and policies; and conducting or assisting in litigation and administrative proceedings.
Performs other job-related duties as requested by the President and the Board of Trustees.

Minimum Qualifications:
Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school in an appropriate area of specialization and 10 years appropriate experience required.Licensed to practice law within the State of Florida or the capacity to become licensed in the state within one year of employment required.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in a university office of the general counsel or comparable role in government or a corporation, or as a leader in a legal practice with significant educational or governmental clients.
Salary:
