Overview
Deutsche Bank is seeking a junior or mid-level attorney to join the Legal Department in New York to support the Global Legal Documentation and Sales & Trading Legal divisions with a focus primarily on support for the repo business, including for both bilateral and cleared repo transactions. The Bank is a trusted partner to our clients on a global scale with expertise in trading and structuring across various asset classes. You will be part of a global Legal Team that provides expert and strategic advice and proactively manages complex legal risks. You will primarily focus on our US repo business, This business is at an exciting time of evolution and part of the role will include preparing for implementation of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC’s) U.S. Treasury clearing requirements. The role will involve the legal and regulatory risk management of new and existing transactions.

What You’ll Do
Draft and negotiate a variety of master agreements and ancillary documentation, including but not limited to MRAs (including with sponsored repo annex), GMRAs, GMSLAs and MSFTAs with external clients from a wide range of jurisdictions
Advise on regulatory requirements relating to SEC mandated clearing of U.S. Treasuries for cash and repo transactions, including participating in internal project workstreams
Provide repo master agreement legal advisory support to the global legal documentation team
Assist with complex negotiations, escalations and priority client relationships from the repo business pipelines to ensure that these matters are handled appropriately and escalations are addressed in a timely manner
Assist with master agreement development work, such as Deutsche Bank templates, clause library, updating user guides and policy changes
Support the internal netting process through contract reviews, opinion reviews and submission of legal summaries for approval to relevant internal committee
How You’ll Lead
Coordinate with Deutsche Bank Compliance, Credit, Finance and other control functions to ensure that internal approvals, legal policy points, and legal/regulatory changes are understood and agreed and there is a sound control framework
Support regulatory outreaches or re-documentation projects where repo master agreements are impacted (with focus on U.S. Treasury Clearing) and assist in the management of external counsel or vendors involved in such outreaches
Manage external counsel engagements
Skills You’ll Need
Juris Doctor Degree
At least Moderate of U.S. legal experience gained at a law firm or in-house at a bank or with Moderate master agreement experience
Member in good standing of a State Bar Association, preferably with the New York State Bar Admission
Skills That Will Help You Excel
Experience of drafting, negotiating and advising on master agreements such ISDA, MRAs, GMRA, MSFTAs, GMSLA and cleared derivatives documentation in either private practice or in-house
The ability to work independently and as part of an inter-disciplinary team
Excellent legal analytical skills and problem-solving ability
A willingness to be versatile and develop knowledge about different departments within the Bank
The ability to work with a high volume of complex legal documentation under time pressure
Expectations
It is the Bank’s expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the office in accordance with the Bank’s hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $170,000.00 to $254,500.00. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of renumeration.
