We are seeking an experienced Contract Attorney to support a small, lean legal department consisting of a General Counsel and one additional attorney. This role is primarily focused on contracts, but the ideal candidate will be a practical, business-minded generalist who can assist with a variety of legal tasks as needed. The goal of this position is to help take work off the team’s plate and provide flexible, high-quality legal support.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (e.g., vendor agreements, NDAs, service agreements, SOWs, amendments).
- Assist with contract management, including revisions, renewals, and issue spotting.
- Provide general legal support across the department as needed, which may include:
- Legal research and analysis
- Policy review and drafting
- Compliance-related support
- Support on internal projects or ad hoc legal matters
- Collaborate closely with the General Counsel and other legal team member to prioritize work and meet business needs.
- Communicate clearly and practically with internal stakeholders.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 5+ years of legal experience, with significant experience drafting and negotiating contracts.
- Experience working in-house and/or with small or lean legal teams preferred.
- Comfortable handling a mix of contract-focused work and general legal tasks.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Practical, business-oriented approach to legal issues.
Contract Details:
· Full-time: ~Part-time contract role (approximately 20 hours per week)
· Contract length: 3-6 months minimum with potential for renewal
· Work setup: Remote; must be authorized to work in the U.S.
