This position provides policy, priority, and procedural leadership for the Inland Fish Management Program. It oversees program planning, implementation, and decision-making essential to achieving the agency’s mission across Division Programs, Regional Districts, and partner entities. Given the complex and often controversial nature of fish management, this role requires the ability to synthesize competing factors and effectively communicate and coordinate internally and externally to achieve balanced solutions for fish resources and societal objectives. Additionally, the position develops and manages program budgets and serves as a key policy liaison with state, federal, and local agencies, tribes, partners, and the public.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Minimum Qualifications

Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;

-OR-

Three years of related experience AND a bachelor’s degree

  • Leadership experience developing and implementing fish management plans and policies, and an effective approach to addressing complex fish management issues that results in balanced and positive outcomes

  • Strong written and oral communication and coordination skills with varied entities and individuals

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to address multiple concurrent work needs at different levels of detail and priority

  • Strong supervisory and administrative skills
