POSITION SUMMARY

Under moderate supervision, the Aircraft Paralegal assists the Aviation practice with projects related to the aviation industry. As a member of a professional support staff team, this position will also promote and maintain the good will and reputation of the Firm and maintain the highest level of professional conduct and confidentiality.

Essential Functions Statement(s)

 

  • Prepare legal documents such as Security Instrument Releases, Lease Terminations, FAA Bills of Sale, Aircraft Registration Applications, Statements in Support of Citizenship and other miscellaneous documentation necessary for various aircraft transactions
  • Transactions will involve the buying, selling, leasing and financing of aircraft
  • Examine aircraft, engine and propeller records of the Federal Aviation Administration and prepares title notes showing the chain of ownership and status of encumbrances of aircraft and the status of encumbrances against engines and propellers
  • Examine Priority Search Certificates issued by the International Registry and compare them with FAA records
  • Prepare preliminary drafts of closing opinions and correspondence with clients and their counsel
  • Assist in organizing documents for aircraft transactions and maintain document files with respect to such transactions
  • Communicate with clients and the Federal Aviation Administration Aircraft Registry
  • Perform functions necessary to make web-based registrations on the International Registry of Mobile Assets
  • Run know your customer searches and reviewing FAA/International Registry/UCC searches
  • Ability to handle multiple transactions and tasks in a fast-paced environment

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Associate degree in paralegal or legal studies preferred. Paralegal certificate and three years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work and experience required.

 

Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a transactional legal assistant, real estate or title company closing agent or bank loan officer required, and 4+ years’ experience as a transactional legal assistant, real estate or title company closing agent or bank loan officer preferred.   

 

Computer Skills: Skilled with MS Office Suite and other office products.

 

Certificates & Licenses: Certification as a Legal Assistant is preferred.
 

Other Requirements: Excellent written and oral communication skills (comprehension & expression). Strong command of the English language, including excellent spelling, grammar, punctuation, form and style. Detail-oriented and ability to create, compose, proof and edit correspondence. Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures and maintain confidentiality of records and information.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

Work environment is in a professional office setting. The majority of activity this role performs will be sedentary work.
