Description

Pender & Coward, P.C. is looking for a meticulous, conscientious, and reliable person to join our team full-time at our office in either Virginia Beach, Virginia, or Suffolk, Virginia. This position is in the office, remote work is not available. The position requires working 8:30 am until 5:30 pm Monday – Friday. Please note that the ability to utilize standard computer programs and the ability to learn and adapt to new ones is of paramount importance. A strong emphasis is placed on the candidate’s computer experience, skills, and aptitude.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Open, organize, maintain, scan, and close paper and electronic client files.

• Process ingoing and outgoing mail daily.

• Draft simple legal documents, according to specifications.

• Prepare routine correspondence.

• Renew LLC and corporate registrations online.

• Maintain attorneys’ calendars; schedule and follow up on all appointments (i.e., clients, case

work, and potential clients).

• Support other staff and attorneys.

• Edit and attend to issuance of bills.

• Obtain documents from online court records, land records, and Lexis legal research system.

• Perform a variety of other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Extensive technology experience and strong internet skills.

• Expert level verbal and written communication skills.

• Meticulous attention to detail and proofreading skills.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to function well in a high-paced environment.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, and to exercise discretion and good judgment.

• Operational knowledge of or ability to learn standard office equipment including copier, scanner, telephone, and postage meter.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.

• Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, and other

professionals.

Education and Experience

• 2-year associates degree. Bachelor’s degree a plus.

• No prior legal experience necessary. Real estate experience a plus. High computer aptitude is mandatory.

• A strong desire for advancement is a plus. Opportunities for additional training are available for exceptional candidates.

Salary Description
$19 to $21 an hour
