Job Description
About the Role:
As a Paralegal (I or II) at this location, you will be responsible for supporting legal operations in a federal government environment. This involves handling case materials, legal research, documentation, and supporting investigations and litigation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management and File Maintenance:
- Serve as the primary custodian of case materials, including managing and organizing various files (e.g., correspondence, pleadings, witness files).
- Track the flow of documents and materials related to litigation, discovery, subpoenas, and other legal processes.
Support in Investigations and Litigation:
- Assist in uploading, organizing, and reviewing documents and electronically stored information.
- Provide support for trial preparations, in-court activities, and other legal proceedings.
- Conduct internet and open-source research for case support.
Document Preparation and Review:
- Assist with research and writing tasks, including drafting legal documents under attorney supervision.
- Conduct cite-checking for legal filings and memoranda.
- Prepare compliance and enforcement documents.
Required Experience/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (Paralegal II: 4 years; Paralegal I: 1 year of professional experience).
- Basic legal knowledge, including standard legal citation and legal research tools (LEXIS, Westlaw).
- Excellent communication skills and familiarity with a variety of computer applications (word processing, databases, spreadsheets).
- Ability to consistently deliver high-quality work.
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal training.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent graduates of a bachelor’s degree program.
- Experience in automated litigation support.
- Prior experience in a Federal Government environment in a classified setting.
