Position Summary:
The Legal Support Runner performs an essential role in our Firm by ensuring that our offices run smoothly. This individual will assist the Firm by delivering legal documents, filing paperwork at courts, and conducting other administrative tasks. Additionally, this role may assist with document retrieval, photocopying, and other administrative tasks to support legal proceedings. Time management, accuracy, efficiency, dependability, and strong organizational and communication skills are essential for this position.

This position reports to the Manager of Administrative Services, as well as the Legal Support Lead.
Essential Job Functions:
- Hand-deliver and file documents in various courts and agencies, including delivery of courtesy copies to Judges and Magistrate Judges (local and outlying counties)
- Assist in preparing for major mailings, filings, and closings by making photocopies, scanning images, organizing materials, stuffing & labeling envelopes, bindery, bates labeling, and other tasks
- Perform deliveries and pick-ups from local clients, businesses, and law firms
- Ensure that all mail, document deliveries, and packages are sorted and distributed throughout the Firm
- When necessary, perform mail runs to pick up USPS from the post office and drop off certified mail/USPS/FedEx/UPS in P.M., ensuring that all items are packaged, have correct postage, and go out by the end of the day
- Maintain supplies by checking stock to determine inventory levels
- Unload, unpack and stock supplies, snacks, and other office items
- Move furniture, heavy items, client files, and other office equipment
- Monitor food requests; walk/drive to pick-up food orders
- Serve as back-up when Openers are out; make coffee, empty dishwashers, distribute cups/glasses to satellite kitchens and make sure conference rooms are set up and ready for the day
- Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements and scheduling of repairs
- Monitor facilities requests, set up new employee workstations, and other maintenance requests
- Work in tandem with the other legal support department members, which includes providing back-up for the receptionist and imaging department (whenever necessary).
- Assist with special projects and other duties as required
- High school diploma plus one year of relevant work experience
- Ability to represent the Firm in a positive, professional manner
- Maintain a positive, “can-do” attitude, while working in a fast-paced working environment
- Clear and effective communication and strong people skills
- Able to work independently or as a team in a collaborative environment
- Strong diligence with great emphasis on accuracy and quality
- Prioritize tasks and provide support and response to requests on time
- Operate standard office equipment such as telephones, conferencing equipment, photocopiers, scanners, postage machines, etc.
- Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Office Word, and Excel
- Ability to lift and move furniture, boxes, and other miscellaneous office items
- Prioritize and oversee multiple rush requests to meet deadlines
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to read from hard-copy paper and computer screen, sit, talk, hear, use wrists, hands, and fingers repetitively to type, write, operate computer and other office equipment/machinery, handle and grasp paper and other office objects. Additionally, the person in this position will be moving about our multi-floor office to deliver packages, mail and interoffice deliveries, use office machinery, etc., strenuous physical work; bending, lifting, pulling or pushing of items more than 50 lbs., and moving heavier objects, such as furniture and filing cabinets, as needed.
