Title: Paralegal
Reports to: Vice President of Compliance & Legal Affairs

Job Summary: The Paralegal with assist the Vice President of Compliance and Legal Affairs in ensuring the organization iscompliant with all federal, local, and/or private grantrequirements. The paralegal will provide clerical support, identify, and implement cross-functional process improvements, and develop strong working relationships with critical leadership in and outside of the organization. USI is a results-based organization, and we expect our employees to be equally results-driven in their approach to work.
Hours/Week: 40 hours per week with additional hours as needed
Salary: Commensurate with the experience of a candidate located in St. Louis, MO
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the first point of contact for internal business units, addressing contract-related inquiries and escalating issues to the Vice President as needed.
• Conduct initial contract reviews, assessing risks related to contract language, legal thresholds, and other criteria.
• Ensure timely completion of all expense reports in accordance with USI’s deadlines.
• Oversee the entire contract lifecycle, from providing forms to execution and ongoing maintenance.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal leadership to understand and support critical components of USI’s work.
• Assist the Vice President in drafting contracts for partnerships and projects.
• Support regular compliance calls with site leaders to ensure effective and efficient communication.
• Proactively manage risk while exploring innovative solutions and techniques.
• Assist in the submission and close-out of grants and contracts.
• Correspond with grantor agencies to manage and resolve compliance issues.
• Ensure annual reports are submitted at least thirty days before expiration.
• Maintain, update, and organize both physical and electronic files.
• Other duties may be assigned
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal studies or related fieldpreferred
• Paralegal certificate preferred
• 3+ Years of related work experience
• Some experience in Non-Profit organizations a plus
