Day Shift - 7.5 Hours (United States of America)

RUMC is seeking a Staff Attorney to join our Legal Department. The Staff Attorney will report directly to the General Counsel and provide assistance and advice on all legal matters related to operations, finance, and the delivery of care. The role will focus primarily on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare law and a keen understanding of the regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities

· Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of contracts, including physician employment agreements, vendor agreements, managed care contracts, and business associate agreements.

· Develop and maintain policy and procedures for contract management.

· Advise on regulatory compliance issues including fraud, HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid rules, and other healthcare-related regulations.

· Provide legal guidance on operational matters for hospitals and healthcare providers, such as medical staff bylaws, policy development, and risk management strategies.

· Assist in preparing legal documents for filing pursuant to regulatory requirements.

· Draft clear and precise legal communications including demand letters, regulatory responses, policy memos, and correspondence with stakeholders.

· Serve as initial point of contact with outside legal counsel as needed.

· Stay current with federal and state healthcare laws and regulations.

Qualifications

· Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

· Admission to practice law in New York, and in good standing.

· 3+ years of legal experience, preferably with a focus on healthcare law or corporate transactions.

· Familiarity with hospital operations, provider networks, and healthcare contracting.

· Working knowledge of New York State and federal laws, rules and regulations governing healthcare including, but not limited to, those regarding fraud, waste and abuse, HIPAA/privacy, Medicare/Medicaid rules, CMS CoP, and regulations governed by DOH, OMH and OPWDD.

· Exceptional research, writing, and analytical skills.

· Exposure to litigation or administrative proceedings involving healthcare entities is a plus.

Part Time Hours, 18.75 hours/ weekly.

Salary Range: $76.92/hr - $89.74/hr
