As the Human Resource Manager at The Jeffcoat Firm, you'll support the human factor in the company, oversee HR initiatives, and ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations. This position is responsible for overseeing HR/Payroll/Benefits systems, handling benefits and employee relations, processing payroll and administering pay, assessing staffing needs, hiring employees, and help in developing and enforcing company policies and practices.


 What you’ll be doing:   

  • Ethical compliance with the SC Rules of Professional Conduct  
  • Joining the Operational Leadership team in developing strategies related to Talent Acquisition, staffing needs, health and welfare benefits, and labor relations. 
  • Serving as the employee relations contact. 
  • Successfully overseeing and implementing compensation, benefits, and incentive plans. 
  • Assessing and bolstering company culture to ensure a positive, engaging, and supportive workplace. 
  • Managing PTO, VTO, and employee attendance. 
  • Addressing performance improvement when necessary. 
  • Supervise in-house recruiter to manage talent acquisition as determined by the CEO, CFO, and CAO-CFO and the Leadership team.  
  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and solving hiring challenges. 
  • Recruiting top talent. 
  • Mediating and suggesting solutions to employee disputes. 
  • Interviewing potential candidates and making recommendations. 
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. 
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. 
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. 
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. 
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. 
  • Administer various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits. 
  • Support with benefits orientations and explain the benefits self-enrollment system to new employees. 
  • Maintain employee benefits filing systems and ensure benefits changes are entered appropriately in the payroll system for payroll deduction. 
  • Review and respond to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation. Review monthly unemployment statements. 
  • Assist in obtaining statistics and information in the renewal process of any health, life, and retirement plans that benefit the company. 
  • Prepare and maintain biweekly employee reports, new-hire and absentee reports. Maintain and update company organizational charts, phone directory, and other requested reports as needed. 
  • Assist in completing benefits reporting requirements. 
  • Ensure compliance with Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) requirements. 
  • Track and verify all FMLA Leaves and Accommodation Requests.  
  • Updates processes and procedures as they relate to leave requests. 
  • Informs leadership of any pending HR requests or issues.  
  • Keep accurate records of leave of absence status in the HRIS system. 
  • Perform and support the bi-weekly payroll process. 
  • Perform day-to-day HR administrative tasks such as maintaining employee records, processing documentation, updating HR databases/employee files, and supporting with general HR functions. 
  • Attends required morning and monthly meetings.? 
  • Performs other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.? 

 Who you are:   

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources 
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in an HR-related field 
  • Experience in HR with all facets-recruiting, employee relations, onboarding/retention, benefits, labor relations, etc. 
  • Strategic HR vision 
  • Successful oversight and implementation of compensation, benefit, and incentive plans 
  • SHRM Certification preferred 
  • Effective and clear verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong leadership and managerial skills to oversee the HR department and work with all employees within the company 
  • Knowledge of computers to perform necessary tasks with common office and HR programs, including HRIS and ATS systems.
